How to become a Racing Trainee - Overseas Training

Trainee Apprentice Jockeys with outstanding performance and conformation of related requirements will be sent overseas for training. They will then follow local trainers to pursue advanced riding skills and engage in stable management work. Trainees will each obtain an overseas Apprentice Jockey License and participate in local races so as to derive more racing experiences. After they have accumulated a certain number of race ridings, they will be back to Hong Kong and given a license from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Licensing Committee to become a local Apprentice Jockey.

When they are overseas, trainees have to be independent and take care of their own living. They also have ample chances to learn social skills as well as foreign languages in order to communicate well with trainers and owners for more potential racing opportunities.
