The programme will begin in late July / early August each year. There may be engagement activities prior to the official start date. You will be notified once we have offered you a place.

The learning and development programme utilises 70/20/10 principles and is competency-based, with the aim being to develop your professional and general management capabilities. During the three years of the programme, a variety of training activities will develop your personal effectiveness and self-leadership and help you transition to a supervisory role. You will also have opportunities to participate in business and management sharing sessions and action learning projects to further develop your competencies as a future-ready leader.
For each of your rotations and attachments, you will be supervised by a dedicated manager-coach and supported by a buddy in the team. You will also be mentored by an experienced leader, who will teach you the ropes and share their career experience and insights. Our HR team will keep track of your progress and provide career advice throughout the journey.
On-the-job learning is a significant part of your development plan. You will be hosted by one of our key functions and have different rotations across our business and corporate functions, depending on the function and project scope. Through experiencing the breadth and depth of the Club’s diverse businesses, the aim is to help you develop your professional competencies and identify a job role that matches your aspiration and capabilities.
While the Club is mainly based in Hong Kong, we also encourage Management Trainees to experience our business activities and projects in the Mainland, or even at the international level - subject to development needs, timing and the opportunities available.
During the online application process, you will be required to indicate your most preferred function. We encourage you also to indicate a second preference or be open to other areas. This would widen the scope and enable us to identify a path that will match your skills and experience.
Your hosting function and job rotations will be carefully planned in collaboration with yourself, taking account of your strengths and development needs as well as the opportunities available within the Club. We aim to provide you with a personalised talent development journey throughout the early part of your career with the Club.
Management Trainees who perform satisfactorily and demonstrate potential will be promoted to a supervisory position. We fully expect you to become part of our leadership pipeline under a robust talent review mechanism, with further support by leadership development programmes to advance in your competencies and career development. While we will closely track your career progress, you are expected and is empowered to take ownership of your development in partnership with your managers.
To continuously build up our talent pool, we aim to take around 15-20 Management Trainees each year, subject to business needs and the calibre of candidates.
We are looking for people who have the potential to become a future leader in the Club. That is, candidates who are highly motivated, purpose-driven, and able to learn independently and fast. You should not be afraid to deal with ambiguity and challenges or to take risks when necessary. You should also have strong communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
In general, all candidates have an equal opportunity to join the programme and will go through the same application and selection process. Evaluation of candidates will be based on their performance in online tests, assessment centre and during final interviews.
We welcome all high-calibre candidates. Having a keen interest in racing, football and sport is beneficial, but not a must. Once you have been through our onboarding and training activities you will pick up domain knowledge very quickly.
Yes, so as long as you fulfill our requirements. Typically you will need to complete the online assessments and attend an assessment centre and interviews in Hong Kong. Depending on the situations, we may contact candidates who are unable to participate in the planned selection process for alternative arrangements, such as online interview and virtual assessments.
