Building an inclusive, creative and vibrant Hong Kong, where people's lives can be enriched through the arts, is one of the priorities of The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s charities efforts. The Club has been a proud partner of the Hong Kong Arts Festival since its inception over five decades ago, bringing local and renowned overseas artists together to showcase diverse and spectacular exhibitions and performances.
This year, for the 52nd Hong Kong Arts Festival, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series welcomes the award-winning Bavarian State Opera, which will open the Festival with the Hong Kong premiere of Richard Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos. The series also features the Bright & Black concert performed by Baltic Sea Philharmonic; and Le Corsaire, performed by Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company (La Scala Ballet). The former combines a symphony orchestra with heavy metal, presenting a groundbreaking and innovative concert; while the latter showcases extraordinary dancing skills of professional dancers, complemented by magnificent music and costumes, delivering a ballet experience infused with exotic charm. Another highlight of the 2024 Festival is Van Gogh in me, presented by the Netherlands Chamber Choir featuring a chamber choir performance integrated with real-time technology which turns paintings of Van Gogh and Klimt audible, and the musical sounds visible.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Student Matinee Programme continues to support less-resourced students to enjoy free performances, as the Club believes the arts should be accessible to all.
As for the HKartsFestival@TaiKwun programmes, Tai Kwun will be transformed into a playground for immersive artistic experiences, with plentiful opportunities to stimulate the imagination through direct contact with artists and their vision.
