The Hong Kong Jockey Club promotes the development of arts and culture to enrich the lives of Hong Kong people. We proudly bring you “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Fragrance of Time — In Search of Chinese Art of Scent” exhibition, which is one of the events of the inaugural Chinese Culture Festival and the Shanghai Culture Week. The exhibition features 160 sets of precious artefacts exploring perspectives that range from fragrance materials to religious rituals and literati lives. It also explores the characteristics and changes of Chinese culture of scent from the Neolithic period to the twentieth century, taking viewers on a journey through fragrance that spans thousands of years to enrich their understanding and appreciation about the fragrance culture of China.

The Club also supports a series of educational activities to help visitors to learn more about various usages and characteristics of fragrances in China. These include guided tours, expert talks, and workshops. The exhibition gallery also features scent experience zones to complement the introduction of various scent practices throughout the history of China. Local artists are invited to shed new light on the cultural significance of fragrance in Hong Kong through different mediums, thereby enabling visitors and the younger generation in particular to understand the close relationship of Hong Kong with the historical transit of fragrance materials.

The Club commits to building an inclusive, creative and vibrant Hong Kong, where everyone can enjoy the benefits offered by cultural experiences and an improved quality of life through arts.
