To celebrate the Year of the Snake, The Hong Kong Jockey Club shares happiness with the community by participating in the International Chinese New Year Night Parade on the first day of the Chinese New Year (29 Jan).
As we mark the 140th anniversary of the Club, we thank the people of Hong Kong who truly make good possible throughout the journey with us. Our “In Motion. With You.” float features 140 pinwheels symbolising the journey that we progressed together. Accompanied by a spectacular performance featuring a troupe of performers and lion dancers, it brings vibrancy to the continuing journey that lies ahead, and embodies the Club’s commitment to being with you – then, now and always.
Following the parade, the float goes on display at the Chinese New Year Raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse on the third day of the Chinese New Year (31 Jan).
Kade Chan, an award-winning origami artist, and one of the Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2020, is invited to teach beneficiary children from JC PROJECT LIFT for producing two special pinwheels for the float.
Accompanying the parade, Annie Ho (HKJC Equestrian Team member and the double bronze medalist from the team dressage event at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou and team eventing at the 17th Asian Games Incheon), and Ellis Wong (HKJC’s Apprentice Jockey), hold the large pinwheels and share Chinese New Year greetings with the public.
The “Progressing Together Cheering Team” also performs in the parade, sharing joy and happiness with everyone along the route.
