The Hong Kong Jockey Club promotes the development of arts and culture to enrich the lives of Hong Kong people. We are proud to be one of the partner of the Hong Kong Arts Festival since its inception over five decades ago, bringing local and renowned overseas artists together to showcase diverse and spectacular exhibitions and performances.
This year, for the 53rd Hong Kong Arts Festival, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series welcomes prestigious Italy’s Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, which delivers the festival’s opening performance. The series also features the classic fairytale La Sylphide performed by Czech National Ballet; and Bizet’s Carmen co-produced by four French and Italian companies. We also continue supporting the Jockey Club InnoArts Series, which commissions original works and encourages the exchange of ideas to support the assimilation of arts and technology. This year’s InnoArts Series features No reality now, a groundbreaking theatrical combination of live dance performance and virtual reality to explore the mystery of life.
In addition, the world première of the Putonghua adaptation of Jules Verne’s sci-fi classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is brought to life by the Comédie-Française theatre company in collaboration with Chinese artists. This falls under the newly launched Jockey Club East-meets-West Series, through which we seek to reinforce Hong Kong’s position as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Student Matinee Programme continues to support less-resourced students to enjoy free performances and make the arts accessible to all. We commit to building an inclusive, creative and vibrant Hong Kong, where everyone can enjoy the benefits offered by cultural experiences and an improved quality of life through arts.
