Public Riding Schools - Tuen Mun Public Riding School - Introduction


Tuen Mun Public Riding School is the largest public riding school managed by The Hong Kong Jockey Club, it is a busy competition centre for all levels of riders throughout the year. It enjoys a quiet location between mountains and the sea on the western fringe of Tuen Mun in the New Territories. It adjoins LCSD Tuen Mun Recreation Sports Centre, which provides an archery and gateball field, a golf driving range, a climbing wall and rope course for public use.

Professional Training

  • Trains students up to the British Horse Society (BHS) Stage IV Riding & Care and Intermediate Teaching levels

Riding Lessons

  • Available in English and Cantonese

  • Specialize in dressage, show jumping and cross-country training

  • Riders are colour-coded to ensure that groups are of a similar riding standard

  • Evening and weekend lessons have to be group lessons of maximum 6 riders per class

  • Beginner riders are offered the opportunity to take some private or semi-private lessons during the daytime between Tuesdays and Fridays. Once the riders are able to perform rising-trot, they will be grouped together

  • Experienced riders are offered the opportunity to take an assessment to fit into a suitable class Flexible schedule and discount rates are available during non-peak hours

  • Riders are welcome to call in during office hours to discuss their riding requirements Competition training for jumping and dressage is available on a regular basis

  • Although every care is taken, riders are asked to sign an indemnity form before they start riding

Riding Gear

  • BHS approved safety helmets which are available for hire at the school

  • A pair of shoes or boots with a one-inch heel

  • A pair of jodhpurs or stretchy, comfortable trousers

  • A pair of gloves
